Default d16y8 question

Is the d16 in the hx the same as the y8 in the ex civic's? tried to search but not finding any answers, I know the the hx came with the economy vtec but did it come with a reg. sohc vtec?

the block and the head are the same in the y5 and y8. they have different pistons, cam, rollers instead of rockers, some other stuff, but they have alot in common

the -e in vtec-e is for efficiency not economy also
