D16Y8 OBD2B Air Injection > OBD2A
I've been researching quite a bit (H-T, D-series, sohchonda, FFsquad Technet, RedPepperRacing manuals) and I'm having a hard time finding the info I'm looking for. Any help appreciated.
These questions only concern passing OBD2 port emissions test and visual.
The car will be tuned using an OBD1 ECU and jumper otherwise.
Car: '00 DX hatch D16y7
Swap: '98 EX longblock OBD2A (dist + all sensors)
'00 EX engine harness
'00 EX ECU (OBD2B)
Questions:
1. Air injection will be eliminated with the '98 Int. Mani. Will this cause any concerns/cels with the '00 ECU. Pretty sure it WILL NOT but need confirmation. I'm having a hard time finding schematics that show this properly (no helms in hand).
2. Are all harness plugs the same; ex. IAC, MAP, ALT, DIST, etc for '96-00 VTEC motors? I know the 2nd O2 sensor will have to be run inside the cabin.
Thanks!

1. It should not throw a code as the Air Injection is all vaccumm. HOwever if you tell the Ref it's a 2000 engine, he will have wiring and vaccumm diagrams that will show him the Air injection lines and you won't have those.
2. No, the harness changed from 96-98 to 99-00 there are people who make adaptars for the OBD2A-OBD2B.
Comment/Opinion: Don't be surprised if the Ref tells you you have a 98 engine in a 2000 chasis, and it's not going to pass.
ALSO, make sure any lines you use for vaccumm say they are for air not fuel. I failed for that once.

Re: D16Y8 OBD2B Air Injection > OBD2A (Spade)
Thank you for the info Spade.
Pretty sure that NC visual inspection isn't nearly as severe/stingent as CA. I'd be highly surprised if they picked up on a missing vaccuum line. I have sources that I can confirm that with.

Ummm...maybe I didn't clarify my question well enough. I understand that the ECU plugs are different (ECU's not plug n'play), but are the underhood sensors plugs the same between all 96-00 VTEC models?

You'll only have a problem if they require you to swap in same model year or newer.
