i wouldnt skip out on rods, but Vitara pistons are PROVEN now. They have many 400whp+ setups on turbod16 using them and they are on ebay for 150 bucks..

The Edelbrock kit was designed to run on a stock engine, but if you are planning on cranking up the boost then I would definitely get some h-beams and forged pistons. I got my vitaras off of turbod16, they came with a full bearing and ring set for $265. The guy you wanna talk to is fjt. He sells them as a "bottom end kit". Are you going with the stock 75mm, or over?

i would probably be going w/ stock 75mm bore but even tho i have the edelbrock kit, i am running dsm 450s with a 95 ecu tuned on ubderdata and after the bottom end build i would run chrome is that okay?

I am currently building my built y8, turbo project. I'm running vitaras, eagle h-beams, acl bearings, stock head and valvetrain, t3/t4 57 trim 63ar garrett, with various ignition and fuel upgrades. I have been talked into trying the new NepTune and will tune using that. My tuner said he believes that we can get 400hp out of it. We'll see...

I would suggest arp headstuds also and tuning crome and neptune are both very good choices. As for pistons like stated above the vitara/eagle combo has been proven to produce great numbers and reliability for great prices.
