D16Y8 JDM D15B Differences and Similarities

Default D16Y8 JDM D15B Differences and Similarities

Just wondering what are the differences and similarities between a USDM D16Y8 and a JDM D15B.......So far I know they are both SOHC VTEC.......why put a D15 1.5 Vtec when I could put a D16 1.6 VTEC...Please post....Thanks

well first off a y8 is obd2 and a d15b is obd1.

The d15b also comes with a more agressive cam and stronger rods and pistions. Out of the box the d15b is a better engine. not much similar besides they are both SOHC VTEC but you already knew that.

Is it possible to put D15 Rods and Pistons and cams in a Y8? and yes there is such thing as a 3 stage Vtec in the D15.......

if youre gonna upgrade the rods you might as well put some real rods in there, d15 rods are all that strong at all

yes that is true.....what ae some good set of rods and pistons for low compression sohc vtec(bOOst)?

depends on the year of the D15B
the 92-95 all the same head int mani and exh as the Z6

The 96-00 ones did. The EG ones were basically de-stroked Z6's.

If you want a d15b get it from drew, he is teh shitznit! Well we will see if he is the shiznit because my motor will be here this morning at 7. So far he is a great guy to work with and im sure the motor will be mint.

they are similar motors,
but the z6 is more similar to the d15b than the y8 is,
the z6/d15b share the same head/mani's(as previously stated)

while prettymuch everything on the y8 is different...

similar, but not the same.

also the d15b's cam is more aggressive than either the z6 or y8.

I'm starting to wonder why ppl dont swap d15b cams into their z6 for alil more pull,
or use d15b heads for minime swaps more often.
