That is what I did when I blew out my first Y8.

What tranny are you going to use?

I'm doing that now with my built Y8, it's from an auto Y8 car.

Side note, are the cams the same in the Auto vs 5 speed D16Y8?

i did a d16y8 into my 92 vx. had the same thing an automatic d16y8, had to change the intake manifold because the automatics have different idle control valve then what is neede on 92-95. otherwise yes u can just bolt up the flywheel. also there is a brace on bottom of engine to trans, they are different on auto/manual, at least mine was. i used my vx wire harness and had to wire up the injector harnesses from the y8. another thing the ditributor on my vx did not bolt up to the y8, what i did is took everything out of the vx distributor and put it in the y8 case. i was lucky with the vtec already hooked up, so didnt do that. but had to convert my 5 wire o2 to 4 wire, which i just ran directly to the p28 ecu. the setup works fine for me so far.
