D16y8 intake identification and B7 con. Bearings
Hi all,
I am in the middle of collecting parts for a y8 onto a b7 minime. I'm finding I will have to go to the junkyard for an intake. I found a thread where 'p2k' is the intake Id. Any truth to this?
Also what has been the success rate of people using Standard sized connecting rod bearings rather than getting the color codes. ?
Thx

i just rebuilt my wiseco eagle build with clevlite bearings so far so good. most will tell u to get the color codes from the block to rebuild it. but as long as u plasti gauge the bearings and they are within spec your good to go. any 5spd y8 intake manifold will work if u have a manual transmission.

are you talking ACL bearings? If they are your going to need to micro polish the crank.. cheap and easy if the crank is already out... Plasti gauge will be your friend here.. if you get 0.038 thats to tight, you want like .025

Thx for the info on the bearings, the motors got 80k on it, hoping the cranks in good shape. There's no nocking but while the head was off I was gonna do the rings and bearings.
Hoping to hear info on the Y8 intake, gonna look at one on Friday (if it is) but don't wanna get screwed with something else.

clevite bearings and acl are totally different companies... and clevite makes a few honda oem bearings so eh. and look into a d16z6 manifold p32 or p08 will work a lot better for your setup than the y8

if u get acl's get the dura glides not the race bearings. they are made for tighter clearances and to be changed out frequently. i was gonna go the acl duraglide route but went with the clevite bearings instead and my clearances were good.
