Default D16y8, install CD player- car wont start

Help, son has done something to his car, he was trying to hook up stero equipment and something shorted out??? He said he pulled fuses to see if any blew and when he pulled one the car died and now it wont start, it just turns over. The coil pack was replaced and still nothing... is there a main sensor or something that may cause it not to star ? Thanks Deb>

I went to check the car out since it was only lik a 6 min drive away.
I need some help. Kinda of fishy, but I don't wanna spend a bunch of time on their car going though everything, but if it were mine i would.
Car, 97 D16y8 , stock civic ex. Also its an Automatic.
The guy said he installed radio/cd player, (car is running) for some reason he started taking out fuses under the dash (says to see if the radio would cut off??? of course it would) Well his car turned off. He installed it back, car started back up. After that (at a stop light) the rpms rev up and down, car jerks, feels like its gonna take off. Guy makes it home, turns car off....and it never turns back on.

I go over there, they took the neg side off trying to reset the ECU, now I can't read the codes because its reset and car wont start. I see if the ecu is bad by using my spair P2P ECU. Nothing. They said they put a new rotar and coil, but no new button. Car will try and start, but con't crank. but tries to. I was thinkg fuel pump. But I turn the car to on, take the fuel tank cap off and pressure is released, so im sure it works. They said they did a ohm test on under hood fues box, everything read good. all under hood fuses are good too.

Where to satrt? Help a guy out....

To be sure that the motor is getting fuel, try cranking the engine for a few seconds and then take spark plug out and see if you small fuel. If so, then it's gettin' fuel, obviously. If not see if it's getting spark but pulling one of the plug wires off of the plug and little and try cranking the engine. IF you hear a popping noise it's getting spark.

wouldnt it have to be on in order for there to be pressure to be released wheni took the gas cap off. I took the cap off after turning the kay to on, and pressure came out, i did it two times. both times it pssss'ed out. so the pomp would work right?

this is the point I am getting too, if the fuel pump isn't turning on then I am sure he blow the main relay.

I know what the main relay does, but I wask asking you a question too. If I open the gas tank, and pressure is released, then the fuel pump works, right? I did it 2 times and it let pressure out.

Edit: I didnt mean to come off rude. lol Sorry.

I never heard of that way but I guess it makes sense, I just start to turn the key over and you can hear it prime. This is like 6 people that have said Main Relay in the two threads about this. I didn't take it as rude, rude to me is you give someone be big "f" bomb...hehe

Well, we know it was electrical right? If all of the fuses are good, .. who knows... try checking these (not expert, just throwing out ideas)

-Alternator
-tightening all wires
-Is it flooded? can you drain it if it is?
-are the spark plug wires damaged? (maybe try putting those on your car or visa versa
-surface of the electronics.. are the chips burnt? just because fuses are ok, doesnt mean one might have failed in it's job.
lol... battery too low? or perhaps doesnt hold enough charge to turn it over? It could have been damaged, and no longer able to keep high voltage
