d16y8 idle issue
the car has had this problem on and off ever since i bought it. im driving, all of a sudden the CEL comes on and the car starts acting weird. when im pressing the gas pedal it seems normal, then when i let off the gas it jerks bad. it seems like the IACV isnt working properly, like its not giving the motor air when i let off the gas and the throttle plate closes. if i turn off the motor and turn it back on the problem goes away for some time, then comes back after a few minutes. the problem doesnt come back if i keep my foot on the gas (even when stopped, just lightly feathering the gas so the throttle plate isnt closed). the CEL is the IACV code, i cant remember it right now.
ive replaced the IACV before, problem went away for a few months and came back. i took it to a mechanic and the guy said it just needed to be adjusted, the problem came back a few months later. i tried adjusting the valve but cant find an allen key thatll fit in the bolt thats on the IACV, this makes me think that its non-adjustable? i assumed he adjusted the idle and not the valve itself. then i set the idle, problem went away and now its back again.
getting really annoyed here
help?

Re: d16y8 idle issue
1) When you make a tech post, give information about your car - year, trim, transmission, mods, etc.
2) Post the OBD2 CEL code. There's more than one for the IACV. Knowing the specific code helps pinpoint the problem.
3) Click on the FAQs sticky and you'll find a diagram for adjusting the idle speed for your car.
