Default d16y8 header fit?

hey everybody i just bought a 1997 honda civic hatchback dx and I bought it with the header cracked. The crack has been welded shut but I want to replace it anyway. My question is will a header off of a d16y8 fit my engine with it being a d16y7? Am I correct that a d16y7 is the exact same thing as a y8 other than the vtec head?

Well ur car should include the catalytic converter in front of the engine, so it doesnt have headers. I have ur same engine. What i did was acquire a d-series header, purchased a catalytic for the Y8 (try Magnaflow) and swap the whole stock exhaust for that.

you will need to modify the civic exhuast to run a y8 style manifold, you will also need the cat for the header. But yes it will fit on just fine, beside the exhuast issue.

By cat for the header, u mean that catalytic exhaust manifold found stock right. I swapped mine for a under engine cat and put 4-1 headers.

^What? The d16y7 has a cat built into the header a d16y8 does not. The y8 is basicly the same design is what you have, cat will be under car, instead of infront of engine.
