there's braket the hold the IM to the block. it also won't let you back off the im very far. get under the car and have a look. there one or 2 bolts on the under side also make sure you undid those.

What you are attempting was not designed to be attempted with the engine in the car, but it can be done with the right tools.

Why do I sense you are attempting this without having looked at a service manual? A manual will detail the cylinder head removal process.

He's taking the head off. I've done that countless times with my Civic and several with by Integra(b18c1) with the engine fully in the car. so i'll assume you're thinking of something else.

OP the bolts can be got with an ratcheting wrench(skinnier than a whole ratchet). as for the bracket you'll NEED to get under the car to remove the bolts holding it.

I pulled my head with the intake mani on. Just unhook the brace that ties it to the block and lift.

If you take the bracket off ... dont put it back on..... most people that do mini me swaps etc always throw that bracket to the side for a paper wieght. that bracket is pointless and it would be more useful as a paper wieght.
