D16Y8 in EG Vacuum leak around injectors / hunting idle.
Ok havent been able to solve this yet on localk forums so now im trying jyou guys out
Engine is a D16Y8 from a 98, now i had a bad valve in the head so i was given a head from a 97 Y8 and it was an auto and mine is a 5 speed. I already searched and found some information on the 99-00 having an air assist but mines a 98 intake manifold. heres the rest of the info
Well we swapped the head on my Y8 now i have a bad vacuum leak from somewhere around the intake manifold area, so we swapped the intake manifold gasket with a new one. im thinking maybe the orings and seals around the injectors?
its loud... like u hear it sucking in alot of air... and its right in the general area of the manifold so yeah..
any ideas? Im gonna swap the injectors tommorow.
today i changed the injector cups, no difference, made sure fuel rail was tight and such still leaking
All we did was remove head, and intake manifold, swap head, and put intake manifold on it and reconnect everything.
We used a new intake gasket and a new headgasket torqued everything to specs and thats about it. I also checked PCV valve and all vacuum lines i could see and there all good so far... im just getting fed up with it cause im running outta ideas

i know the 99-00 have air assst, and someone was saying autos do as well, now is it all autos, or just 99-00 autos, and if so is there any holes on the head that would be causing the leak cause its an auto head... and a 5spd IM
