D16Y8 or D15B7
I have a 97 Ex Auto and im swapping it into manual. I have 2 engine choices, either another D16Y8 with NOS friendly Pistons or a D15B7 with a 00 Y8 Vtec head. I was considering going boost but it just seems like such a hassle and neither of those are good engines for boost. So I was thinking of going all motor instead which seems easier? I'm just not sure about the prices for the different routes and what parts I need to go all motor (what I can change to for the most power and the least cost). So can you all help guide me in the right direction? Thanks.

that big red lettered button on the top right of the page will work wonders when used correctly....whixh is why its in red letters cuz not enough people think of using it when the question they need answered has been 100 times before

I would have to learn. Besides boost is pretty noticeable (blowoff valves, intercooler, etc) and i live in miami so im afraid of gettin my **** jacked lol. And the car is a daily driver so I figured High Compression would be a better daily driver than Turbo after hearing some DD turbo horror stories.
Either way how much would it cost for me to boost it and what kit do u recommend I get? I was lookin @ this kit from edelbrock but it was pretty expensive and I dont have that kinda cash to spare.

your not gonna get much power going all motor on a d series for the price, compared to going turbo. id start reading up on homemadeturbo.com if i were you, they got tons of info on turbos. 6 psi will or will not work depends on the size of your turbo

Make your own turbo kit.
Use some turbo parts of Mitsubishi's. Like the Eclipse's side mount intercooler, if you don't want to be noticed much lol.

Don't screw yourself over just go get a B swap for 1100 doolars--you can do a ton to a sohc, boost or n/a and still just be fast enough to keep up and maybe pass a dohc--don't waste your money with sohc

[freak] getting a b series swap. thats why i asked what i can do with the sohc swap that im getting. because im getting the swap basically free since my friend has a couple of extra engines at his house that he swapped out of cars that he owned.
how much will it cost for me to make my own kit.

from what my friend is telling me it seems like yes. He said its minime the same way D16Y7 -> D16Y8 minime swaps are done. He said compression ratio goes to about 10.x(idr what x was) and it makes ~140hp and can rev ~7500 yet there is no point since it makes its power around 6800. My guess is that he had it dyno'd when it was in his car.
