Default D16Y8 cylinder head and gasket swap

I found someone on craigslist parting out his 98 civic hx and 99 civic si. he has a D16Y8 engine. I was curious about doing the mini-me swap (I have a D16Y7), so I talked to him about how much he'd wanna sell the two parts for. $300 a good price?

i hope he includes everything . u will need the y8 injectors and ecu. i hope ur car is a 96-98 civic as well or the dizzy plug is going to be different and the ecu will plug in but will not start the wiring was changed in newer models. it will also help u out to have the y8 intake manifold but if ur car is a 5spd it is required as u will need a 2 wire iacv to run it and the y7 does not have one. you would be better off buying a y8 from a junkyard for 500-600 dollars for a complete running motor to swap in and sell or rebuild the other on the side. if your car is an auto u will need a auto ecu and intake manifold from the y8. if ur car is a manual u will need a manual intake manifold, ecu and a 2 wire iacv. u will have to wire in vtec on your own and do the 3-2 wire iacv conversion. there is alot involved for this simple swap to just gain maybe 20hp .the cat being on the header will also rob some hp. the head will flow better with a ex header or aftermarket header. then u will need to extend or unravel ur 2 o2 sensor plugs in the harness to extend them as they will relocate with the ex header to under the car. in the end swapping a whole motor in will be less of a headache as u will need almost everything on the head to make it work. then all u need is to do sum wiring and install a ex ecu. im sure for that 300 that didn't include injectors, ecu ,distributor or intake manifold. if so then thats a good deal. i hope the car is blown up its ashame to just pull the head offf a good motor. If the engine is still good id ask about the price of the whole engine and ecu.
