d16y8 crank problem
This happened to me a few weeks ago and havnt been driving my car. I want to find out the most cost effiecient way of fixing this since im selling the car.
I was headed to work then my car started making a clicking/rattling sound. I get about a mile from work then my power steering goes out. When i get to work i looked under the hood and the power steering belt came off the pulley. i was running late so i went to go clock in, i told my boss im gonna leave early cause i was having a car problem.
I take the car to my friends mechanics house. The clicking/rattling was also getting louder. So i get there and he comes check out my car and i toldem what it was doing. We were both looking underneath the car when i grabbed my crankshaft pulley and it was barely hanging there. It had like 3/4 of an inch play in it, thats what the rattling noise was. The guy told me i was pretty much fucked after he took the bolt of the crank pulley. He said the key was stripped/broken off the crank and wouldnt fit inside of it.
Now i really dont know what to do, i have a blown d16y8 motor inside my garage with a crank and pulley. I dont know if the crank is bent in it or not cause there is a hole the size of a tennis ball on the block, which makes me believe its fucked. So that was gonna be my first option.
Has anyone else had this happen to them on any of their cars? Im just trying to find the most cost efficient way of fixing this since im selling the car. I dunno if should just hunt a new crankshaft or buy a new motor for it. Ive never done any internal engine work either. Ive swapped trannys and adjusted valves thats the majority of it.
If anyone has any advice id appreciate it. Thanks
