d16y8 Best crankshaft swap???
So, I was wondering if the d16z6 crankshaft is a better option than the d16a6 crankshaft? My 97 came with the y8 crank but I need to swap it out for another one because mine is shot. I will be running a turbo soon with the obd2 to obd1 conversion so I'm not worried about a knock sensor. What is everyone's thoughts on this? Anyone have a crank for sale??? Lol...I'm in Kentucky...

I thought the a6 crank had 2 holes as well....I guess I was misinformed. Guess I'll be looking for a z6 crank for sale...

If you read his whole post, he says it does have dual oil ports... However being he says the Z6 is your only option for the Y8, it would indicate the A6 won't fit the Y8 mains.

I honestly don't know if it'll fit. I also don't know if there are any timing differences, and if there are, what those differences are. We're talking about putting an OBD0 crank in an OBD2 engine. Z6 into Y8 has been done hundreds of times, and is tried and true. No reason to reinvent the wheel.

Makes sense too me. I like tried and true way better than testing and failing unless you got the money for it.

Timing differences occur in how the camshaft is clocked. TDC is the same for all cranks, when #1 is completely at it's peak height. Just throwing that out there.

I don't know personally but I believe I read on the dso site that it is a direct swap. So much so that I purchased a Z6 crank for my D series build. I have sold the car since then and still have the crank shaft which is for sale if you are intrested.
