i have 2 motors...one currently in my 98 EX and the other had blown piston, racing a GSR..yes i beat his *** BAD!..mauahahah...anyway it was all worth it..now my options are to rebuild the bad motor with nos and turbo setup pistons..etc...or should i go with a b16?? i love SOHC's and hate those slow dualies!! anyway any suggestions? if you can help me what do i need for my complete rebuild? i did research and all i found was just pistons, rods, and can shafts?? i know there sould be more i need right?? help????

do you happen to know what i will need besides the rods, pistons and the cam shaft?? i am not like a super motor guy, i know more about looks than beefin up a motor!!

well with a 2 g budget : ZC rods, upgraded pistons, and then pieced together turbo kit. id also recommend uberdata or chrome to be able to tune the car. but i recommend as i do with any motor i build. replace all the gaskets with fresh ones as well as i always upgrade or replace the bearings. boost does wonders to a motor. sometimes good and most of the time bad if you do it wrong.

Why use the ZC rods? They are not any stronger than the factory Y8 rods - while they be bigger, they aren't stronger. Different metals/processes were used in the costruction of these two rod types.
To the Poster:
You can probably build a turbo system for that amount of money - but not rebuild the engine too. I'd suggest finding another good SOHC to go in there for boost - either another Y8 or a Y7 even. The biggest thing you can do to ensure longevity is to get a good tune on it as mentioned by JRDbuilt - uberdata or crome as mentioned. Something not mentioned though, is that you'll have to convert to OBD1 and obtain a P28 or other chippable OBD1 ECU. http://www.pgmfi.org has a listing of what to do about chipping, and what can be chipped. Once chipped, you'll want to get that thing to the dyno and get it tuned by an experienced tuner to get the most from it, and to keep it for any length of time.

you don't need rods and pistons if you're going to run a conservative boost. If you're whp goal is around 200, then the stock bottom end would be fine. Just piece together a turbo kit and be done with it. Don't skimp on fuel management though, and a good tune is key. Good luck
