Default d16y7 with z6 head into 92si

okay so my block is FUNKed up. so i bought a d16y7 from a guy on here

YES I SEARCHED

well someone said that the y8 timing belt has 1 more tooth so i need that.. but somebody else said the y7 and y8 belts are the same. some people said to use the y7 belt. which do i use?

i heard the timing will be off by a little bit.. but i can just use the Y7 camsprocketon the z6 head to correct this. i only heard this once and saw many posts on the z6 head onto y7 block. so will this work? camsprocket is the camgear, right? or what?

i'm going to be using my z6 wiring harness.... so all the shortblock sensors will plug right in, right?

i read the d15/z6/bauleycivic thread... and the d16y7/y8... and i guess on a d15 you need to take out the plug.. but not on the y7? the plug is on the y8 head for the y7/y8.. so im guessing i dont got to do anything about this, right?

is there anything else i should be on the lookout for? things i'll be reusing.... IM/HEAD/EXHAUSTMANIFOLD/ac/powersteering/tranny/starter.... anyone have any advice for me?

thanks. need asap will be building this tomarrow. o yeah im gonna use a y8 headgasket

first off, nice to see you back

good thing u got jackstands too

what happened to the blue hatch?

and.... yes many of the things from the old hatch will be reused. axles, harness, shiftlinkages, starter, flywheel, clutch, tranny... all of it.

however, you do need somebody to come in and let you know what timing belt and sprocket to use.

good luck y0

well if you're using a z6 head and the blocks are the same height i would say use a z6 belt? measure the distance from the centre of each crank to the top deck of the block, if they are the same then get a z6 belt.. lol maybe just buy all three and return the 2 wrong ones!

For the water pump you always get the water pump for the block...so use the Y7. The Y7 and Z6 timing belts are the same length so either one of those will work.</TD></TR></TABLE>

i have the belt and waterpump for sale too
