D16y7/y8 startup issues
OK so I've had this problem for a few months now, and everytime I mention it and describe it to the local honda heads, they can't really think of what the problem is. They just say "hmmm that's really strange dude" haha Everything has been about the same on the car for while now, so I'm not sure what is causing this problem.
Anyways, I'm gonna start a thread about it, and hopefully narrow it down.
Symptoms:
Upon starting the car, the car will die unless I give it some gas.
When holding the gas in (just barely, to keep the RPMs up) it feels very rough, and then gradually raises RPMs and then smooths out.
I've also noticed that it smells very rich during this whole process.
Also seems like it happens more often while it's hot outside.
If my car is parked in a parking garage all day, it starts up fine.
I've changed octane, and spark plugs, no change.
Bare in mind, this is a problem only during start up, doesn't happen while driving down the road or anything. Also, sometimes it will still do it after the car is warmed up, and I'm just starting it back up. (say, going to the mail box or something)
So, let's try to come up with some ideas of what it cannot be, and more importantly, what it could be.
