Default d16y7 problems

So my friend bought a motor, installed it & upon starting it, it was leaking oil "from what we thought was the front crankshaft seal" . Took it all apart, purchased a new oil pump & installed it only to find out it still leaks!

It is leaking from the front side of the oil pump in between the aluminum "not the crankshaft seal itself" What should I do? Can I just buy hondabond or any other rtv, put it on the oil pump & bolt it in that way?

How about make sure the seal is installed properly? That the surfaces smooth and free of any gouges or other deformity?

Is it leaking from the pump or oil pan? Did you use a thin layer of hondabond when installing the new pump?

Crankshaft seal is installed correctly & Before installing, I cleaned all the surfaces. This is probably why the guy sold it. It is leaking from the left side of the oil pump Towards the bumper.

I didn't use any layer of sealant because I never had to, My question is would it be safe to use some to fix the problem
