I have a 2ooo ek with a D16y7. I don't have a tach...blah...but the car seems to be idling on the cold start too high and after the car is driven, the idle will climb up when i come to a stop. It does go back down after about 5 seconds but it shouldn't be doing that. I was looking at the iacv which from what i can see you can take off and clean like other hondas. Also today when i got to work and shut the car down it shook pretty strongly, which it shouldn't be doing and hasn't been like that before!
Or maybe you can service the iacv but to me it looks like it is riveted on and unserviceable but who knows

I've got a 97 with a D16Y7 and the IACV wasn't riveted on. I had to remove the stock air cleaner box to get to it, but it was on the front of the throttle body, four 10 mm (if I remember correctly) bolts, and the two coolant hoses. I had a similar idling problem, and after I cleaned out the IACV it improved, but didn't totally go away. I only had TB cleaner, so I plan on taking it off again and giving it another douse with brake cleaner to see if it will come any cleaner.

i actually took it off last night again and well now i have cel. Haven't gotten a chance to check it yet but gee i wonder what it is. I used throttle body cleaner and man i fillled that thing and blew it out with compressed air so who knows what wrong with it. So far my research has shown you can't really fix this iacv like on other hondas. I think my plan of atakc as of now is to fin a d16y8 intake manifold and just bolt that on. It has the same iacv and should make more power. Coolant level is just right .

last night it was a surging idle, and this morning its just seems to be high and idling high when im in neutral . Oh and im not sure what i was talking about when i said the iacv was riveted on, its something else but i looked to that after cleaning the iacv and nothing changed.

did you bleed the coolant system after you removed and cleaned the IACV?
