d16y7 head - how fix broken valve cover bolts?

Default d16y7 head - how fix broken valve cover bolts?

Hey well i painted my valve cover and created a nice mess i torques the polts down in ft pounds instead of inch pounds and cannot extract the bolts. all bolts are broken off inside except for 1. i need to know what i should do. like if i can rig something up so its drivable till i can fix it better if i can make new holes with diffrent bolts and thread types or get a new head and if so how to replace it would be nice all help appreciated thanks in advance

i get that but how exactly and whut kinda bolt would i use? two seal it up? i was thinking about taking it to a shop and just letting them drill new holes and deal with it what do you think

why would you drill new holes drill the damn bolts out and get replacements from the dealership

i got the damn bit lol it failed the bolts are in there too hard i have toqued the bolts to 80 ft lbs instead of inch pounds i cannot get them out and i have replacement screws but i think there worthless now

They are not in there at 80 ftlbs they would of snapped way before

there in there as tight as they can be before snapping cuz thats what i stupidly set the torque wrench at lol and i cant get them out ive tried for several hours and i screwed up the thread on a couple of them

then you have to drill them out with a bit the size of the hole, tap it and get new hardware

where could i get bolts like the originals just bigger would they have to be the same kind or just a regular bolt? how much would a shope charge to do that do ya think cause i dunt know if im comfortable i dont wanna scrw it up again

Call up a shop and ask. Bolts you can get anywhere.

bump.. bump.. bump... LEARN HOW BOLTS WORK!!!!!!!!!! use the google machine, there really isnt much else to be said about your problem. You broke the bolts, get new ones
