D16y7 fans wont turn on, missing a sensor? coolant temp/sender?
Ok i've asked this in the EF forum, but no luck yet, so i hoped maybe someone here would know
I have a D16y7 in my 89 civic hatch.. I'm using all D16a6 wiring, ECU, and everything else besides the y7 block and head.
I noticed after 15 minutes of letting the car run, that the fans weren't turning on, and the engine seemed a little too hot.. unfortunately my cluster isn't wired up yet, so i couldn't tell
Anyway
There are two sensors from the A6, which would go into two prongs on the back of the A6 block, but it isn't there for the y7. I tried taking out the prongs from the A6 and putting it on the y7, but the threading is much larger on the y7. The spot for it on the y7, just has a flat bolt, maybe a 22mm,, something around there, with no prong, or connection. When the flat bolt is taken off, you can see where the collant would fill around the cylinder walls, and there is also threds there for which i think would be a sensor instead of that bolt.
Would this be why my fans aren't turning on?.. does that sensor tell the collant temperature, then tell the computer to switch the fans on.
Any help would be appreciated, i just dont want to overheat this bitch before i get her on the road. I'm not down for warping my head, or blowing the HG ^_-
thanks

Re: D16y7 fans wont turn on, missing a sensor? coolant temp/sender? (PDM)
OK found it out... for reference, here is the thread
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1247078
The thermostat housing on the D16y7 is there the plug is for the coolant temperature and sender senser... on the A6 it is on the back of the block. A simple relocation and wiring from the A6 wiring harness to the therm housing ^_^
