i just picked up a cheap 97 4 door . with the d16y7. in the future looking to swap ...

but for right now i was wondering if i could just put a header on and a universal cat with a cat back system and pass emissions...

then could i use the same header for a later swap with a y8

i am more worried about the location of the cat and o2 sensors passing emmisions...

all jumbled i know... sorry... thanks for helping

I think you should check the emisions laws in your state, go to a local inspection site and ask them to see what they say.

i know what the local emission laws are...

basically what i was really asking is could i use the EX setup for exhaust mani and cat instead of the dx vtec-e setup...

like i asked... i was more curious about the o2 sensor location... really haven't looked at it much yet... this is why i am asking here ...

Yes you can. You'll need to extend the harness for the o2 sensor.
