d16y7 engine problem helpp
ii was cruising around lastnight and jamming out minding my own business and all of the sudden the car just turned off on me and i keeped on trying to turn the car on it wouldnt so i opend the hood messed with the battery wires to see if it was that but it couldnt have been because the lights were still on radio, fogs, headlights etc. so after a while i was able to turn it on and drive on home. and when i was at a light it did the same thing. i dont know what it could be. think it could do something with the engine getting fuel ??
or can it be the fuel filter??
thanks in advance.

Yes it could be fuel related but I would start with the ignitor or coil going on it, when it does not start does the cel stay on in position II(should go out after about 2 seconds) position II is where dash lights and idiot lights come on-you are not cranking the engine (III)

i changed the fuel cap and it turned on fine with no hassel. and the nexxt day after work it turned off again on me on my way home but it took forever to turn backon. so its not the fuel cap or the fuel pump because i hear it when it turns on. think it can be the dizzy?? would a 1999 civic dizzy fit mt 97 civic sedan lx it should right?

CEL codes? Last ignition system tune up? Have you inspected the inside of the distributor cap and the rotor?
Have the ICM inside the distributor tested by AutoZone. You can resistance test the coil using a digital multimeter - see FAQs sticky and Spark link in my signature.
