Default D16y7 to D16y8 swap problems

Hey guys,

First and foremost I have already searched and found a ton of info on this but nothing that really addresses my specific issues.

I am swapping a motor for a friend with a 2000 Civic SE that threw a rod.

I was unable to locate another D16y7 for a decent price but did come along a D16y8 with low mileage for a great price.

I read about the possibility of swapping it in place of my D16y7 and from what I read it didn't seem too hard to do as long as you get the wiring harness and ECU from the y8. So I picked up the motor, did all the usual stuff to it (new clutch, timing belt, water pump and flywheel) and dropped it in the car.

Everything went smoothly, it all lined up perfectly and got the motor fully installed in not time at all. Then I went to hook up the new y8 ECU...

I noticed that there were now a total of 5 connectors in the passenger side kick panel where there were previously 4, so I tried to hook everything up anyway but realized that the ECU still didn't have enough ports for all these wires...

So I did a bit of research and found out that I bought a OBD2a engine, harness and ECU when my car was OBD2b.

So I say all this to ask you awesome people, What are my options to get this to work? should I go try to find a OBD2b harness and ECU or can I re-pin the ECU connectors to make it all OBD2a? (Just so you know the car won't start, it gets spark and cranks but the fuel pump doesn't come on)

Sorry if this is a bit long winded but I wanted to give as much info as possible!

You can either get a '99 - '00 EX harness, or you can modify your old Y7 harness to work. You can't use the Y8 harness you have (you should be able to sell it though, lots of guys use them for B-series swaps into '96 - '98 Civics) You'll either need a conversion harness for the ECU, or you can get a '99 - '00 P2P (EX) ECU.
