d16y7 to d16y8 intake manifold swap problems
ok i've searched and searched and still cant figure it out. i also went through http://www.ef-honda.com/ben/Badidle.php to no avail.
here is the setup and problem:
car: 96 civic cx,
stock d16y7
the manifold is from a 96-98 ex.
the linear iacv on back was removed and sealed off.
im using my y7 throttle body, map sensor, iacv, fuel rail, injectors.
The car will start right up and idle at 1500. The idle screw is adjusted as low as it can go. And after it's warmed up it will continue to idle high or will start jumping from to 1000-1500.
If i block off the hole to the IACV inside the throttle body the car dies.
What could it be? Vacuum leak? IACV?

Re: d16y7 to d16y8 intake manifold swap problems (tracebuzta)
funny thing is that I just swapped a JDM d15b and used my 96 ex mani... I'm using a kenji ecu P06. Starting the car is no prob... but after 2-3 mins I get this illmatic idle surge... up and down. After the car warms up everything is all good. I checked everything on my end. No CEL's no vac leaks... nada! It's only when the car starts from cold. Anyone?

What throttle body gasket and intake manifold gasket are you using?
Use a 96-00 EX intake manifold gasket and use a y7 throttle body gasket.

walpro 96 EX IM gasket. The IM came off my d16y8 so it was still complete. Didn't need to change my throttle body gasket. All bolts torque'd all lines reconnected to their EXACT location on the y8 mani

Re: d16y7 to d16y8 intake manifold swap problems (tracebuzta)
update: i put the d16y7 manifold back on and there is still a problem. the idle goes from 1200 to 1800 over and over. when it's doing this the vacuum is going from 20-23. this sucks. my car has been unusable for 2 weeks now,

No you don't need the 2-wire iacv when using the y7 ecu. Make sure you weld shut the cruise control nipple on the back of the manifold near the driver side.

i went back to the y7 manifold which doesnt have a cruise control opening. how do you clean out a rotary iacv?

Take off your throttle body and under the body is the IAC. Youll see 3 8mm bolt/screws. Take them off then spray inside.
Also remember when your putting the TB and IM on you have to cross pattern your bolts or else youll leak.

ok the car is back to stock now. the idle is high on startup and fluctuates between 1100-1600 when warm. what could it be?

some more info:
no check engine light
if i start up the car with the IACV harness disconnected the idle surges up and down real fast

Update: I reset my ecu once more... and drove around for a bit... while the car was already warm.... The idle somehow, cleared itself up. On a bad note... it still surges a tab bit... on cold start up... sits up around 1800-2000 and just sits there till the temp gauge hits it's comfort zone. Then peace once again roams my engine bay.
