d16y7 and d15 vtec (jdm engine) whats best combination for more power?
i have a jdm del sol with d15 vtec engine. i also have a spare d16y7 engine and want to know what is the best combination of the 2 engines. will i use the 1600 bottom end wit vtec top or what is better gearbox ratios to use. any help would be great. tanx

a d15 v-tech...never heard of one of those, but i have heard of a d16 vtech which is the si model for the sol.. the s is just a sohc non v-tech

im pretty sure the d15 head should fit on the y7 bottom end, just like my z6 head fits on my y7, you just need the complete head with distributer and the intake manifold, most likely (not 100% sure) need d15 head bolts and run any vtec ecu your just gonna need a obd jumper harness if you go anywhere from obd-II.

there is a steady supply of 2nd hand ex-jdm cars come to ireland each month, everything from del sol's to bongo buses, the same in australia new zealand & uk,

you shold just use the D15b that you have in the car. dont swap blocks. put the Y7 head gasket in the D15, that should bump up compression, add about 5 hp. if it is a three layer gasket. im not too sure what comes with the y7. but thats about all you can do. swapping blocks is too much work, probly no gains. tell me what computer (ecu) you have. Maybe i can get you a chip that can help.
