D16y7 BOOST
I have a 97 CIVIC DX(d16y7) I run my car everyday but the fastest I can go is 75. I try to floor it but it just doesn't go. My question is what can I do to get more horse power out of my engine besides doing an engine swap(cause I don't go the $ right now) Would swapping 98 civic ex/si parts help much on hp. THANKS

Even though there's nothing impressive about D16Y7's, they certainly do a better job than that! Sounds like you have something bad wrong with it. How's the routine maintenance? Changed your oil recently? Air filter? Is the check engine light on?
As far as making your car faster, you have hundreds of options, but HP is never free. None of the *real* HP adders will be cheap. Some may be "relatively" cheap as far as bang for the buck, but none of them will be $5 hardware store accessories...
P.S. Yes, EX (D16Y8) parts will make a difference, especially the tranny. Do a head swap and tranny swap from a D16Y8, and you will get significant performance gains for the money, but that money might be better spent saving up for a swap or FI. It all depends on where you want to end up.

Re: D16y7 BOOST (ek_mr5)
I do a routine maintenance check every three months ex. oil, air filter ect. What would be better for the money Turbo or just an engine swap. And if I were to do an engine swap what would be a good motor to swap and how much am I looking to spend. Thanks for the helping me out with this!!

OH NO! you started the ultimate fight on Honda-Tech... d16 vs b16 vs b18, etc.
Basically it comes down to preference of what you want to do. If you are talking about doing everything "Legit", then the price is a big factor. If you want to go turbo, I wouldn't use your motor, since like I said before, it sounds broken. All cars should be able to break 3 digits, even a cvcc. It might be a good idea to do a swap, b16's or LS motors will be the cheapest. Good luck regardless.
My opinion: Boost It, Blow it up! Buy one for $200, and do it again until your bored.
If you got the $, just go twin cam, it will make your friends happy.

Re: D16y7 BOOST
sounds like you might want to take that car to the mechanic. I have gotten to 115 no problems and still have a little to go. just let off of her. LOL. also I can go 72 in second gear. you might want to see whats up with your car before you go and modifying it!
