D16y7 - bogs and back fires
Ok ht, just bought a 96 lx 5speed. Just did water pump and timing belt
Now tha problem I'm having is tha car will bog and back fire while driving.
But will only do it for about 1-2 miles then it'll drive fine again. If anyone knows what it feels like when the belt is off a tooth or two that wht it feels like but timing is good! It will randomly do it while driving. Hitting tha gas will only make tha car go slower. Cel on for 02 sensor cause po has it straight piped. I was thinking cap, rotor, plugs but that thing is it only does it sometimes. Any feedback would be AWSOME guys. Thanks any question lmk

When I scanned cel i wanna say if was bank 1 02 sensor. But I do know that there is a 02 sensor on the header and there isn't one straight under tha car. And today on the way home it was doing it for atleast 10 miles. Stoped at a friends house for alittle, drove about 25 miles after leaving his house and it didn't do it at all...

And again this morning lasted about 5 mins. But this time I smelt gas. While it was hesitating I floored it and it cleared up untill I was a partial throttle again. Maybe fuel filter..

Will do, while I was googling it. Seen a guys post with the same exact syptoms. He replace his 02 sensor on the header and it fixed it. Now the question I got is I'm only running 1 (the one on the header) do I really NEED the other one?
And RonJ helped that guy out btw. Maybe he remembers...

Most times it's a ignition or timing issue. Like you stated with the o2 sensor guy. A lazy o2 can cause it ,a dirty fuel filter. The one on the cat tell the ECM how good the fuel is being burnt (hence wheter you running lean or rich).

Ya solid blue I think. It's the wires from the dizzy not the harness. So tach wire? And left work today with it doing it again. Stoped and picked up fiancé from work. ( shut car off ). While driving to pick up my son after, Didn't do it at all.. Don't make any since

It's the one on the top left corner. It's a kinda dark blue wire. Then there's another light blue wire. But the one on the top left is the one that's electrical taped up as u can see...

O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
The most common fix for this would be Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor) Or Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors
