Default D16y7 to B16a2 conversion wiring?

Hey guys, I've got a new engine for my coupe to replace the one thats ticking its head off.

I got a del sol sitting ready to be used as a donor car.

2000 civic coupe EJ6
1.6sohc non VTEC d16y7
P2N OBD2

91/92 Del Sol
1.6sohc VTEC b16a2
P28 OBD1

Both of the above are standard as far as I know.

Considering ive never done anything mechanically with cars before im pretty confident i can swap out the engines, mounts, gearboxes, drive shafts, ecu without any major problems, all ive done for the last few days is researching and teaching myself on how to do this. Plus i have all the tools (air and hand tools) at a family members bodywork garage.

The one thing that has got me completely messed up is the wiring, now im normally pretty good with electricals but I'm stumped. I know I have to swap the ECU's but when it comes to the looms I have 2 options and a question for each.

1. Use my current loom and add in wires for the VTEC which sounds the easiest option but I dont have enough cash to buy an OBD2-OBD1 harness, Is there a way to do this without buying the crossover harness (preferable)?

2. Use the loom from the Del Sol and rip out the dash from both cars and re-wire everything in my car when its swapped over. The dash dials are not currently working in the del sol so im not sure if this is just a loose connection or what. The only thing I'm not sure on about this option is - if I use the loom from the Del Sol will the wiring/connectors match up to whats in my car behind the dash without causing problems?

I'll be heading out on thursday to start this so I need to make up my mind on how I'm going to be doing it before I start so I can find out any other info I need about whatever way I decide to do this.

Any help on either of these choices is much appreciated.

The conversion harnesses go all day long for 30 dollars. Just find a seller who's feedback includes multiple positive responses for the same harness. Heres one I found just by searching: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBD2A...Q5fAccessories

The cheapest way is to make or buy a subharness and extended your secondary O2. Otherwise you'll want to find an 99-00 EX/Si engine harness for basically plug and play but more $$$. You just need an engine harness not the whole dash harness. Check my sig for subharnesses if you need one.
