d16y5 swap into 2000 lx
My engine might be taking a dump soon so I'm thinking about a d16y5 swap from an HX since my goals are for good gas mileage.
From my understanding, besides the engine I'll need the computer (ECU Code : P2N?) and wiring for VTEC-E.
Will my axles, manual transmission, and clutch work?
Anthing I'm missing?
I've been trying to search this swap but it doesnt seem to be very popular and I want to make sure I have the right info for this exact swap.
I would like to stay with OBDII also.
Just so this is clear, I want the d16y5 engine from a 1996-2000 Civic HX coupe and I would be putting it into my 2000 Civic Lx sedan which currently has the stock d16y7.

Make sure you get the cabin harness as well. HXs are weird, they remained OBD2A all the way through production, you'll also need the EGR control box on the firewall assuming they're like the older VXs

I think I'll just buy a complete 99 or 00 Civic HX and then swap all the HX stuff (engine, harness, ecu, transmission...) over to my car, then put all my cars stuff into the HX and sell it. That way if I play my cards right, it will be a free HX engine swap.

i did a similar swap to my 99 hatch... i bought a 98 crashed hx and swapped everything into my 99 hatch... the motor swap was a breeze.. but the wiring was a pain in the butt.....i swapped over the cabin harness....dash harness and floor harness.... .. and i jus swapped everything into one car.. your thinking about doing it two times.. thats crazy but thumbs up for u if you pull it off... its not really hard.. just time consuming.....
