I guess picking up a factory service manual was out of the question? If you're asking this basic of a question, you NEED to buy yourself an FSM.

Absolute raw basics: Water pump, timing belt, tensioner, head gasket, valve cover gasket, spark plug grommets, valve stem seals, intake manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket. You'll also need a tube of HondaBond, as well as a tube of assembly lube.

Seriously, buy/borrow/download a factory service manual. It will make your life a LOT easier, and includes detailed pictures, torque specs of every bolt, as well as a list of tools at the beginning of the engine overhaul chapter that you'll need for the job.

You have a Y5. It's the most econo of all of the econoboxes for our generations. There are absolutely zero "upgrades" worthwhile.

Not worth any performance mods. Either rebuild it stock or get a different head.

The Chiltons and Haynes are $20 paper weights. Literally, I use them as paper weights to keep the FSM print-outs from blowing away. Never trust the torque specs in Chiltons or Haynes.

And yea, don't forget to prime the oil before first startup, and the break-in procedure.
