Hello,

I am in the middle of doing a direct hx swap for an older gentleman. The donor engine is a d16y5 and has roughly 120k on it, the original has 360k on it. I did notice the two intakes are different though. They both have an egr, but the original has a big canister type, whereas the new engine has a smaller egr valve. Also the new engine does not have bolt holes in the back side for the appears to be the IACV, but the old engine has that mounted on the back. Not sure if I need to give the old one a good cleaning and throw it on, or if I can get away with using the new one. I am assuming they changed the intake a little bit during the 4 year production run of this generation Hx.

Not sure if this picture helps, but this is all I have right, as I am at work. This is the new engine.




Any help is more than greatly appreciated.

Just swap the manifolds and no worries. The difference in manifolds is that the CVT uses a throttle body mounted IACV and the manual uses the intake manifold mounted but the two IACVS aren't interchangeable.

Thanks, makes perfect sense, as this is a manual trans and the donor car was cvt.
