Default D16a6 Si trans on a Y7 block?

Having some trouble finding info on trans compatibility. I found someone selling this trans locally for a good price but need to make sure it will bolt up.

Newp. CRX Si has a cable transmission, 96-00 Civics have a hydraulic transmission. Will it bolt onto the block? Yes. Will you be able to use it without an expensive adapter (that rarely works right anyway)? No.

Since you mentioned Si, I'm going to assume you're talking standard transmission and not autotragic. Any 96-00 D series transmission will bolt right up without problems for you.

With manual trans 92-00 d series are interchangable. If the Y7 is in a 88-91 chassis the SI cable trans can be used.

Not enough info really.

OP didn't specify what car it was going in so some of the info in here is actually legit, just depends on chassis.

I did search but could not find confirmation on a few things that NotARacist cleared up (thank you). If anyone has a good link to trans info that would be helpful.

I have a 97 dx coupe that I have recently decided to build but I'm still learning the endless possibilities on swapping parts.

NotARacist, again thank you for the info. I'm just going to stick with the 96-00 parts. I know the common answer is Y8 trans but what about changing gear's or does anyone even make a performance transmission?

There's a Transmission sub forum here that has a FAQ section with info on gear ratios.

D-series.org has the same and is specific to D's if you want to look into mixing gears from different boxes for a specific duty trans.

The 92-95 EX and 96-00 EX are the transmission of choice for the average to built D.

You can get custom gears, and you can get a performance transmission, but both options will take your bank account and **** it right up the ***.

Expensive but from the videos I have watched it seems well worth it!

I'm going to bookmark that one, unless I can find a good OEM trans that's probably the route I will take.
