d16a6 in my cx times
i have a 91 si d16a6 longblock in my 92 cx. i ran a 17.4 WTF with no intake, headers, exhaust, cx tranny, cx intake manifold and cx ecu.
i have a ported d15b vtec manifold on the way and a b18b ls tb to match it.
i definatly need a ex tranny.
what else should i get. maybe piping from the cat back i just have a muffler welded to stock piping... help plz.

what were you expecting it to run? sounds about right to me. an ex tranny, z6 head or y8 head and a p28 will take over a second off that time. then add a turbo and take another second and a half or more off.

its beacuse of your cx tranny, intake manifold, and ecu Duh . CX stuff = slow **** no matter what motor. An ex tranny and ecu is a must.

Yeah get a ex or 88-91 si tranny cx is too long!! the ecu is hurting try to a dx or p28 if you get a z6 or y8 head(y8 includes wiring I believe)and since you have a d16a6 block use the usdm 88-89 (p29) pistons found in the d16a1 block that will help out with some power gains..and juice with 60 shot so your engine can be reliable..

whats the top speed on the cx tranny again?
like 200000000million mph??
hahaha,
imo the top speed of your transmission should at least be very close to your drag limited top speed, otherwise your just in the ***** 17second *****

dude, what are u thinkin? u have a 92 hatch with a 91 motor? wtf why would u do that? that is totally downgrading , did u covert ur harness from obd1-to- obd0?, and with "NO" i/h/e/ cxtranny ect, how did u make it down the track?
use the search button , read more, learn more, or drive ur car into a wall

The DX transmission is much longer than the EX, and the VX/CX is even worse. I did some calculations, at 7200 RPM here are your shift points with respective transmissions (using 195/50/15 tires, stock tire size):
CX/VX Transmission:
46 - 85 - 140 - 175
DX/LX Transmission:
37 - 68 - 102 - 132
EX/Si Transmission:
35 - 60 - 91 - 126
The gear ratios were taken from Mista Bone's tranny page. Emerika stated that the EX transmission shaved 7 tenths of a second off of his quarter mile time in his hatchback, you DEFINITELY want to get the EX transmission.
If you don't feel like going through the hassle of a VTEC head swap (like me), You can upgrade to a better cam and be just as fast as a VTEC head swap or faster, and keep your CX ECU.

STFU! how in the hell do you consider a d16a6 a downgrade from a cx motor
you are the one who needs to stop posting and read more and learn more.

Re: d16a6 in my cx times (dantastic)
I agree with the earlier post. Its your cx intake manifold, ecu, and cx tranny thats messing you up. You replace those and you could even brake into the high 15's since you have a 1.6.

Re: d16a6 in my cx times (ek99)
I don't see how the ECU is messing him up...I mean the only other ECU he could possibly use is a P06 DX ecu (The D16A6 and D15B7 heads are identical), which I doubt is much better than the P05 CX ECU ...I wouldn't recommend using the P28 A. because it is designed for VTEC, and he would operate on the low camshaft profile fuel curve which would hurt his top end and B. if he used it without VTEC it would throw a code, go into safe mode and limit his revs to 5500 or whatever

i've heard the a6 head flows better than the b7... like this: a6>z6>y8>b7...
maybe a cam, and definitely that si tranny will help you out
btw, what gear were you in when you crossed the line?
