D16A6 Build Questions
 
Hi,
Just to start it out I have searched around for a lot of info on the D16A1, here on Honda-Tech, TurboD16.com, and on numerous internet sites. If you know any good sites I would appreciate a link for them so I can broaden my knowledge a little more about this motor.

Alright,
I picked up a D16A6 last night for 50 bucks. It has around 160K on it, but that didn't really bug me too much, counting that I am going to be tearing the block apart. When offered the motor I thought it would be fun to tear it apart and build it to handle at least 6psi daily driver but still have the oppurtunity to run at 12 at the track. I went this route because I would appreciate a D series motor more if I can make it just as fast, if not faster than say a B16.

I haven't really spent much time looking at this motor yet, but want to know which head would be better to use. (will be swapping out the a6 head for either a z6 or y8.) I know with a Y8 head on this block should be running a compression of about 8.73:1 and a Z6 would around 8.66:1. (depending on which pistons I use) I want to run around 9.0:1, just because of the turbo. Do you think this is a safe compression ratio. I have heard that around 9:1 is ideal for forced induction.

I haven't found too much info starting off with the D16A6, is there anything that I should be worried about, or do to make it a stronger engine?

Definatly go with the Z6 head, supposedly it flows better.
Yes that is a safe comp. ratio for 6-12 psi.

edit: and get a Z6 tranny.
