d16a motor - Please identify sensor on head near coolant hose

hey guys im new into hondas but I have a d16a motor and there is a sensor on the head next to where the coolant hose goes, looks like a temperature gauge but it keeps falling off and its unhooked but im still getting a reading on my cluster. Is it for somthing else ? maybe the fan ? if someone knows what im talking about please help me out..thanks

Re: sensor on the head ? helpp

on the side of the head their is a 1 pin sensor which reads temp on your cluster and a 2 wire sensor that provides engine temp info to your ecu. the 2 wire fan switch is either on the thermostat housing or the back of the block.

So I dont understand how the plug next to the head is unplugged but I still get a reading of the temperature on my cluster ?

the sensor that reads temp is right below ur dizzy, one wire, IIRC i think its a yellow wire w/green stipe, or the other way around

a picture would help iddentify ur problem

cant really tell without a pic but i had the one wire one come of all the time so i went to the junkyard and cut off a good unbroken one then just cut off the bad plug and put on the new one

well its not the temp sensor because im still getting a reading on the cluster so whatever the older sensor is for, it keeps coming unplugged not sure what its for
