Default D16 turbo owners - can you recommend a clutch?

First of all, I did search - couldnt' come up with specific info.

I have a 15g pushing 5psi on my d16, and the clutch is going out (lasted 2 mos under boost). Have any of you other turbo'd d16s tried clutches and not liked them? I am planning on getting an exedy organic with some kind of lightweight flywheel, but I want to know if any of you have had problems with this clutch wearing too quickly.

I'm just a college student, so I'm not looking to spend much on the clutch/flywheel combo. I was looking at getting an organic because I heard the harder clutches are too hard for daily driving. I was considering exedy because they seem to have the best prices.

Thank you for any help you may be able to give me

sk3k, do you drive your car daily? I can imagine a hard-to-push clutch getting tiring in stop and go traffic. Anyone else?

You get what you pay for. Cheap and reliable/durable usually don't go hand in hand. That being said, shell out some cash and do it right the first time, if not, chances are you'll be doing it again. I have had clutchmasters in 2 of my vehicles, no complaints from me. Durable and easy to drive. In the end, it's going to come down to your goals since they have various stages. Good luck with your vehicle!

im running a spec stage 4, but be careful with the spec clutches because like mine some have problems engaging when you push the clutch all the way to the floor, you have to adjust the clutch pedal and then you end up with a bunch of slop in the clutch pedal Although i have only heard of this happening to one other person besides me and it was the company i bought it from.

I got the exedy racing organic for $250 shipped from ebay. I have a Mini-me pushing 6 pounds, and it's held up just fine.

I have a SPEC Stage 3 with a ACT Streetlite flywheel. I like my SPEC clutch cause it still feels like a stock clutch on the pedal pressure, but it grabs hard. Dont cheap out on the clutch just to get a flywheel. Your money would better be invested in a decent clutch and a flywheel resurfacing.

Well ok - it's between the Exedy Racing Organic and the ACT Street Disk. Anyone tried out both before?

Big thanks to everyone for all the info :D

Im running a ACT streetlight flywheel with a Spec 6puck sprung. So far so good after 6months... Had the ACT street disc before w/extreme pressure plate but under boost that clutch didnt grab. Before that I had the Exedy clutch and under boost that didnt do good either. So far the 6 puck and turbo is really working good together and Im glad I did this. Hope this helps you...

PK, did you change out those other two clutches because they didn't hook well, or because they were wearing out? Bauley says his works just fine. Were the other two just hooking up like a stock clutch does? I don't want to put a really strong clutch on that's going to kill my tranny and my axles :/

ACT HDSS here... only a little stiffer than stock, organic disk, and holds 230 ft lbs, which is more than enough for me.

I didn't want the XTSS because I drive through traffic every single day coming home from work. I am pushing 7-8 psi on a d16z6.

It holds tight and is very drivable, I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a clutch
