if you just want something to daily drive and push a little id go with the gsr motor. drop it in and drive. the ls/vtec will need a little mechanically ability which im assumeing you dont have much bc if you did you wouldnt even ask this question. sohc-t will take tuneing and selecting the correct opponents to match what exactly you want. and takes alota monerating and expect things to go wrong before it runs smoothly.
gotta ask yourself how much you want to spend also. whats your budget? what else is done to the car? going fast doesnt count for anything if the car dont stop or handle.

boost the d... cheaper to replace if the motor blows... you will probably make more power per dollar if you boost what you got instead of spending dollars on a dohc swap... if the motor you have has good compression give'er

If your planning to go LS/V here is a link on how to reliable LS/V or B20/V.

I've said it 89 times by now, but for the same price as most swaps, you can have a decent turbo setup on your D series. If you do it right and stay within the safe confines of the stock D series, you can make 220-240whp with relative ease. Compare that to the 160whp you'd get out of a typical GSR or LS/VTEC for the same price....you tell me which is a better purchase.

89 times lol. Personally I'm turboing my D16z6 for the summer for the heck of it while I am building my GSR block to swap in next winter. Read above... do it right though. Ebay + haggard = suck
