are all d16 transmissions interchangable? i just bought a 96 civic dx automatic coupe and i want to convert to manual.

yes, i believe that they are all interchangeable, but if i were you, I would go with a 96-98 ex transmission. same connections, same obd-2a.

You can use any 92-00 d-series tranny and not have to change anything. 96-00 EX and 92-95 EX/Si provide the quickest gearing.

i believe you'd have to get an ecu for a manual car or else it will throw a CEL. they are dirt cheap on ebay, i got an ex manual ecu for my head swap for $35 shipped, a dx ecu would probably be even cheaper.

A more durable shift fork won't make anything "grab" better.

Bense

1. any hydro trans will bolt up.
2. the only sensors on the manual trans are the reverse and the vss. The plugs on these are the same for obd1 and obd2.
3. steel forks bend and **** up dog teeth/synchros/synchro sleeves. Take a look at this fucked up gear.
4. aluminum forks break. when they do. they are the only thing that breaks.
5. The ONLY thing that is definitely better about the y8 trans vs z6 trans is that the cage for one of the countershaft bearings is made of metal instead of nylon. This means that oil won't break it down after say, 400k miles.

considering that they share nearly all the same components and are just downright nearly identical. There is no way that this is possible.

If you are using an ex ecu you will have serious problems, the manual ecu for the ex uses a two wire iacv while the automatic ex and the non-vtec models use a three wire. Get a dx manual ecu.

i got a list based on that 44 pix thread of everything needed, with a price list for the most parts based on ebay, how much i'm paying a coworker for his parts, and based on hondaautomotiveparts.com

Flywheel/Clutch bolts: Flywheel: 90011-PM0-000 Clutch/PP: 90034-P10-A01 ~ $15 (ebay you can get the set of JDM ones)

Give or take, I didn't include how much a wire harness is, as I have a 00 EX Manual ECU I need to get one.

You can use the stock pedals and get a clutch pedal, but brake pedal is huge, so manual pedals suggested, can be used from any 92-00 integra/ civic.
