D16 Rebuild :D
Hey guys, got muh EJ8, about to do a 5speed swap and while I'm at it I wanted to rebuild the motor. I plan on throwing boost on it down the road, and was wondering what internals I should look at upgrading for a stable <20psi setup. (9-12 for daily). Work as a mechanic and have access to lifts as well as a full range of tools.
It's a D16Y8, and I just want some input about what you guys would do for a budget build. I don't want to throw in a ton of money, but just whatever is necessary. Already looking at Eagle rods, possibly an Edlebrock intake manifold. I've been browsing Crower, Skunk2, and Toda for cams, but I'm at a loss to which is best. All pretty pricey, too.
Anyways, not as educated as I'd like to be with internals on a boosted build, just trying to get some input.

Once again for the noobs. 20psi means absolutely NOTHING. Where did you get this number from without researching anything? Pick your horsepower THEN start building. Whatever PSI you need to get you to your horsepower goal will be determined by the kit you put together and your tune. Browse the COUNTLESS build threads and you SHOULD get an idea of what you need for your build.

Bro, thanks for the links.
As for the comment about me being a "noob", you should read correctly before you **** yourself with rage. I'm going for a setup, a <20 psi setup. LESS THAN 20PSI SETUP. This was to indicate what kind of internals I was looking at, kbro? Lol, but thanks for the links.

A scenario. I want to make about 250hp.
Do your research for accuracy-You'd be pushing it with the stock engine internals but with a good, really good tune, you can get there. Any more than that start building the engine. How do I get there? Pick the turbo and components. Maybe a T25/T28 for fast spool/no lag with an internal wastegate to eliminate having to buy an external one. Maybe even a 15g but you'd be pushing it. No head work needed. Stock heads can flow this no problem. Any more and you're going to need a better cam. Done (more or less. YOu still have to get the IC, piping, injectors to handled the increeased fuel demand. Walbro, gauges, wideband, BOV, engine management, etc).
No where did I mention PSI. Why? Because PSI is a by-product of all of the above. Not the determining factor. So when you say "all I wanna do is boost maybe 9 PSI" you're going about it backwards because you have even set the HP goal or picked the turbo.

I think the neukin manifold is AC compatible isnt it? If not lookup speedfactory in my sig and Ricky can fab up anything you need....makes some SICK manifolds.
