Default D16 Question

I have a 92 4door Lx, my original plans was to put in a CRV engine, but unfortunatly money is very tight, and it will be that way 4 a long time . Do you guys think it would be worth it to put a D16z6/D16y8 in, because my man has a healthy stock 95ex that's ****** up stock LS's(That **** moves). Also should I go 4 a z6 or a y8, and how much power should I expect doing C.A.I, headers, exhaust, engine tunning, and maybe a perfomance intake manifold. I can get Single Vtec's cheap where I live.

if you got money to get a d16, cai, header, intake manny, and engine tunning. take all that money and theres your crv swap. all those parts are going to add up to almost what a crv swap is.

First of all you don't know me or my man, he just bought a healthy Civic from the suburbs that pulled hard. He knows nothing about racing, and only had it 4 about a week. I was with him, and a stock 90-93 Integra wanted to act up so my friend put it on him.

Now D16 parts sell cheap on ebay, but DOHC is a different story.

CRV sawp, engine 800, tranny 750, Axels 150, shift linkage 100, clutch 200 flywheel 100(CRV's come auto), halfshaft hard to find, probably 80, mounts + back bracket probably 200, + distributer, ECU, and all that other misc ****. You add that up. I tell you what though, you pay my rent, and other expenses, and I will save up and get a CRV swap.

man i've been saying this alot lately, tranny swap biggest bang for buck get an 92-00 ex tranny or 92-95 si tranny. you can find them cheap, it will give you more performance than the usual i/h/e combo's. later u can do the bolt ons and maybe a mini-me simple cheap setup, talk to bauleycivic or take a look at his post on the mini-me.

OK, we have a comparison here...

95 Civic EX Coupe
125 hp
2443 lb.

1/4 mile ET w/o driver (Courtesy of http://www.battleoftheimports.com): 16.537929038925956 sec

90 Integra LS Coupe
130 hp
2590 lb.

1/4 mile ET w/o driver (Courtesy of http://www.battleoftheimports.com): 16.644168740084016 sec

91 Integra LS Coupe
130 hp
2619 lb.

1/4 mile ET w/o driver (Courtesy of http://www.battleoftheimports.com): 16.70605940998198 sec

92 Integra LS Coupe
140 hp
2623 lb.

1/4 mile ET w/o driver (Courtesy of http://www.battleoftheimports.com): 16.306724144255746 sec

93 Integra LS Coupe
140 hp
2619 lb.

1/4 mile ET w/o driver (Courtesy of http://www.battleoftheimports.com): 16.298430831118118 sec

So, this concludes all argument about the subject. Stop yer bitching. Given the same driver and conditions (ceterus parabus) a 95 Civic EX Coupe SHOULD beat a 90-91 Integra LS Coupe, but a 92-93 Integra LS Coupe SHOULD beat a 95 Civic EX Coupe. Keep in mind that one driver could've been better than the other and street conditions aren't exactly reliable, especially in NY.

if your car is chirping in 1st 2nd and 3rd u dont need a clutch. your clutch is grabbing fine. im thinking the guy u bought it from might have done a clutch and possibley a flywheel. and dont knock on the sohc they do have potential also.

im currently running a D16Z6 in a 1995 LX Sedan with a 99 EX transmission.... couldnt be happier with 126 hp....

it doesnt compare to my swapped 92 CX hatch though. but for a SOHC it will hold its own.

i do believe his civic can beat any 90-93 ls integ (stock). when i did my mini me swap without the p28 ecu which it didnt come in my mail which means no vtec at that time , i had the long *** gear cx tranny, and i race a 93 integ, he only start pulling away when i was still in 2nd and he was in 3rd gear. he was only a car lane ahead.

since i got my new shietty *** 96 dx tranny for now, my p28 ecu, i/h/2 1'4 piping with an exhaust, i stayed side by side with a b16 delsol with 3 ppl in the car.

I ran a 15.9 before in my EX Coupe with no mods.. I even had the stock exhaust. And my friend with an AEM CAI in his 90 Integra LS ran high 16s.
