Re: d16 Head swap...
There are tons of articles and threads about this:
"People bicker about which head is supreme, however, I suggest using the head that is easiest to adapt to your chassis. If you have an EK, run a y8 head, if you have an EF/EG, run a z6 head. Whatever is easier. Besides the combustion chamber size differences, the shape of the chambers are different. The y8 chamber offers better resistance to detonation due to it having more quench area; part of the reason they made the CC smaller was to fit these areas."
This quote sums it up IMO. And yes the Z6 is the bastard child when it comes to distributors. The Y8, you can reuse your Y7 dizzy. But in the end, it's your car and engine, you have to decide what your end goal is for the car, difficulty in the head swap, ecu tuning, your experience and comfortability in engines, etc.
I am going with the Y8/Y7 mini me personally for ease of swap, plus it's my wifes car, so as long as it's reliable, I dont care about the minimal gains you might get from using the Z6 head. My .02 cents.

Re: d16 Head swap...
I have a 96 civic with a y7 and im about to do a mini me which head gasket is safest to use as far as detonation and longevity. I would really like it to last for a while as it is my daily driver and plan to use this engine until i can afford a Type R swap. P.S. does anyone have any info about SAFELY using NOS on a mini me. I plan to install the CROWER type 1 Turbo/nitrous cam during the build and im curious about a small shot of NOS. Thanks
