Default D16 to a D18?

could i bore a D16y7 to a D18? by sleeving it pistons and rods? or would i need more work or can it even be done?

because i was thinking of running a 9.2.1 or a 9.5.1 CR and boring to a D18 while doing so on a turbo setup with the crower head package kit and a LSD on my D16 y7 but can you even bore it out by doing the things i listed above or will more work need to go into like is it more hassle than what its worth?

cant get 1.8 outta it w/o stroking or a deckplate. the max bore on GE sleeves is 78mm, and darton i believe is 77mm. either way, they are both in the 1.7x liter area. the reason you cant bore any wider is because the area between the cylinders becomes too thin. hope that helps a lil.

thats exactly what i wanted to know so should i just go with the stock 9.2.1 CR of should i raise it a lil bit ?

i mean i am sleeving and getting forged rods and pistons so i know it can handle the boost but would i be pushing reliability say raising it to like a 9.5 or a 10.1 or would that be pushing it to far.

i am looking to run like a T3/T4 hoping for like 12's 12.2's on slicks

im probably going to go with 9.5:1 or so compression. too low compression=tons of boost and possible lag and no low end. higher compression will be better off boost, and spool the turbo faster. this also depends on the trims and specs of ur turbo. i wouldnt expect to run 10:1 compression with 18psi on the streets on pump gas... just make sure you get proper fuel management and a good tuner and you will be fine for low low 12s on a built block wiht a decently sized turbo. good luck

thanx man what do you think about a tranny setup?

i heard that its good to keep a DX because it has longer gearing perfect for a turbo just slap a flywheel and clutch and LSD and your good to go.

or would it be better to get like a EX Y8 tranny.

or like a Z6 si tranny?

y8 has stronger shifter forks and is close to LS gear ratios, the dx has really long gears, probably much longer than you need

so the y8 tranny would be good what about the 92-95 SI tranny can't i bolt that up or would it just not be worth it because it would be hard to find one in good condition?

and what about the turbo crower cams if i plan on obviously boosting as much as my fuel can handle what do you guys think the rev limiter could be moved up to?

stock is 7200 so what could i move it to 7600? where about you guys think? and also should i get the EX intake manifold ? or wait for a good after market one?
