d16 to d16z6 problems
hey everyone im very new to the whole honda thing but i have a newbie question. i just did this swap the motor was built for boost so its all forged and head is studded. i bought this motor with no miles on it but i dont know the exact specs on it.
any way to the problem. it started just fine the first try and idles like a champ sort of sum of the times but as soon as i go to give it throttle it rather A. dies and 1200 rpm or B. dies at 2000 rpm and wont go any higher. this seems to be the constant now. but it revved to 5 gran a few times but wont anymore is this a sensor issue or is it because i went from a non v-tec d16 to a v-tec d16z6? im very confused and i dont know anything about Honda. i really hope its just a sensor issue any help would be greatly appreciated.
if this helps its in a 95 civic cx hatchback
i did not buy engine i just installed there also is a correction it was a vtec d16 originally the spark plugs are towards the front of the valve cover
also i have heard even with the p28 ecu this problem was still occurring with other people

What do you mean "built for boost"? What internals does it have? need to answer these questions. Don't know why one would buy a modified engine and NOT know a thing about it.

Re: d16 to d16z6 problems
Then you need a chipped ECU and a tune. Gonna be hard to do since you know nothing about it.
I see you edited your first post to say you didn't buy it. But you still say later on that you DID buy it.
Regardless, you have a modified engine that you know nothing about and trying to run it like it's stock. How do you THINK it's going to run with the STOCK ECU for a non-VTEC engine?

im not sure why everyone keeps complaining about why i know nothing about hondas instead of trying to help with my problem and try to point me in the right direction?
is it becuase you dont know? are you just putting part names out of what it could be. the computer is the p28 stock computer so now that you know that its the correct computer and you tell me if u have experienced this problem or know what would cuase it

Re: d16 to d16z6 problems
Sorry. Strictly going by the back and forth information you keep giving us. BTW there were 22 different D16 engines.
There are 2 TPS and MAP plugs you MAY have swapped around but other than that...
Good luck to you.
