Hey,

I have been reading about d series motors and im looking to make 300HP.

so far i have a turbo setup d16y7 thats aboput 215-220hp.

I want to buy another d16 motor what will i need to make and handle 300hp from a d motor? a list would be great. rods, pistons, cams etc? thanks alot and to make sure 300HP from a d16 is capable to achieve? thanks..

sleeve the block, up the boost call it a day... you'll have 300 hp alright... how long it will last? Who knows.

Forged pistons and rods..Some kind of t3/t4 turbo..good fuel management and tuning will get you 300whp and last..

Ive personally seen 500whp d-series with stock sleeves..But had forged pistons and rods and ported head, custom camshaft, bigger intake manifold, good fuel management and tuning ..etc.etc

Yes I would get forged rods, pistons, nice head studs and rod bolts, get the head ported and polished, nice intake manifold, nice turbo manifold, a T3/T4, and get a good tune. You will def. make 300 whp at around 15 psi of boost with a 57 trim turbo if thats what you chose to go with.

Yeah, forgot about the headstuds..Defineatly need those,,dont want the head to lift under boost..

thanks alot for all the info. so if i get
.head rebuilt
.eagle rods
.turbo pistons
.cam
better head gasket and headstuds
.better clutch stage 3

will that be good for 300hp on d16? also i have 450cc dsm injectors will those work ok with 300hp? i have safc2 right now. would stock fuel pump be good or should upgrade the fuel pump also?

it sucks because the loner car i bought for 100.00 running to get all parts to make my 92 hb to manual, i got rid of the d motor vtec because didnt think i would be building up a motor.

Thanks again for all the info helped alot, how much boost could i run on what i said on top? What kind of 1/4mile numbers you think i could run with 300hp?

Of course you can..

450cc dsm injectors and 300whp is really pushing them max..Ive seen setups make it but the duty cycle is obviously very high..

Yeah ,you need a different fuel pump..Look into walbro 190 fuel pump..

If I were you I would get rid of the safc and run a chipped p28 ecu with custom maps tuned for your exact setup

As far as boost levels you cant go past 10-11psi with the stock map sensor so think about that.

would that be ok to have the engine with everything i said but without getting sleeved? How can get better map sensor? or is there a wayto bypass it? what you think 1/4 times would be? would that be good enough to beat stock awd turbo talon? i want to build up the d motor because want to have lot respect from underestimated engine lol thanks alot

Yeah the stock sleeves can handle it,,like I said Ive seen stock sleeved d-motors handle +500whp and last a long time..

The stock map sensor cant read past 10-11psi ..So if you want to go past that you should get a bigger map sensor..tunertoys.com sells 3 bar map sensor for cheap that can read up to ~28psi..

Dont know the 1/4 times..ALot of variables..

I have only swaped in a new engine, put turbo on took apart trans did rebuild, this will be my first motor build up so its ready for turbo. I will be getting help from someone else who knows more about it then me, but is putting in the pistons and rods a hard task?

how much does it generally cost to get the block honed? I dont want to mess up and make to big, why risk it so im going to bring it in machine shop to get honed along with the head rebuilt, just curious how much honing the block would cost estimate?

http://www.turbod16.com X a million. Anything you need to know just ask. I and alot of others there can get you where you want to be on your d. I have a wiseco/eagle setup with a gt2871R w/.63 exhaust housing(super spool). And a spoolin ramhorn 3"all back. Do your sensors come with connectors for that price?

first off.. a stock d series block WILL HOLD 400 PLUS HP.. yes you will need to pistons and rodds..no need for sleeves.. arps are a must..YOU WILL NEED A GOOD TUNE!! NO Gooberdata.. neptune is great..crome would be the next pick but

matt and craig from epictuning just broke into the 11S with their daily driven ef-9 with boosted d16z6.. full race boosted their d16z6 to 440 on TOTALY STOCK SLEEVED Z6 AS WELL..craig from epic's car has 120k..all they did was add arp's b16a t/b and y8 mani.. gt28rs turbo and lovefab exhaust mani..tune is the key
here are the links

http://www.epictuning.com look in projects car.. its the black ef.. super cool guys and will help you with any information or ideas you need..

check out http://www.full-race.com.. read the sohc pinks story!!! NO NEED FOR SLEEVES!!!!!

CRAIGS CAR DYNO'D 308 AT 17PSI..GO TO THE SITE.. totaly stock engine but they did thow in arp's.. im going there as well for my 94 eg si

The hatch that full-race built for the show pinks had a stock sleeve d-series block good rods, pistons, and a head that had the crap ported out of it. Tuned with neptune at 30 psi and netted 460 whp. full-race wound up losing the car do to a boost leak from a busted charge pipe coupler though.
