D16 build-need advise on best parts to use!
Starting a D16z6 build. I already have an Injen intake,DCsports headers, R-active exhaust, plugs/wires, and a chipped/tuned ECU,stage 3 exeddy clutch. Looking for the next step, Im waiting for my ported and polished head to come in, and need to have the parts to build it up before it goes back on. Im looking for a good Cam,cam gear, springs, retainers, and possibly valves to put into this. Turbo charging is a possibility in the semi near future, however I barely have money for the above parts list.
Any suggestions on the best parts for a d16 head or any of those parts for sale(new/used)?
I know no one has an online HP calculator or an internet drag strip, but anyone have a car w similar mods or knows of one and know about the WHP and 1/4 time a car like this should be putting out?

sounds like you know what you want, might as well just save for the parts. definately do turbo, and please don't ask the "how much HP/1/4 mile my car will do" questions. they are impossible to answer and ridiculous.

Well I know what parts I want im more interested in brands, like which company would offer the best cam, camgear, springs etc.
Just thought to add incase someone happened to have a 4dr sohc with similar mods who has gone to the track or dyno, just be cool to see what they can push out of it so I got a ballpark

well, there are many to go with. skunk2 will probably be your best bet.

hey nice to see a all motor D! Keep up your build man, my suggestion is that you get a D17 Crank.. and some wilder cams.. but more impotantly weight reduction will be your best friend.

I too would recomend weight reduction, but as for a cam, since your upgrading the valvetrain, I'd go with either the zex 59300 cam or the comprable JG cam. both are around 200-275 and with typical gains on an NA d being nice, but on a turbo d being damn impressive(25-30whp). I have no personal experience with either of these cams as I just started my new d build up but both of those seem to be the cams to use. For valvetrain, supertech or JG are both reliable companies and have good prices.
Check on like ebay(yes they have some good legit parts) and camp1320 in chatsworth, CA. I've found that most online stores seem to only carry the more expensive junk2 and crower.

Well I was looking at the Crower Stage 2(the non turbo one) and its like 300shipped on Ebay, and I buy a ton of **** on e-bay lol. I could always just go w like a skunk 2 or comp, but both of those can still retain stock springs/retainers which translates to: your going to wish you had gone stage 2.
Im just looking for some pretty quick cheaper hp outa my motor w/o going the distance and slapping a turbo on, 1: too much $$ and 2: im not confident enough in my skills to attempt messing w one of those yet.
What would you suggest to do about weight reduction, I do have a VIs carbon hood,Ground control coilovers. My Konig 17's are much of a help I know that those but I love the style.

Plus im waiting for the 07si 4dr to be released, May of next year I'll be behind the wheel of one of those.
Would a crower stage 2 and the Zex 59300 be compairable? which would you take?

for weight reduction... if it's in your budget I say go with as much CF as you can afford, and then do things like gut the trunk, everything except the spare tire and jack, and then for the interior remove the rear seat(if it's not used alot) and also check into PS removal kits(if applicable), and unless you absolutely need it(like you live in TX or something) remove the AC too. There was a thread on weight reduction where the guy weighed each piece he removed, by the time all was said and done, he removed a total of nearly 150lbs!.
Just saw that your riding on 17s, if you can get some 15's....that alone will make a noticeable difference alone(least it did for my '92 cx hatch)
