Default D16 Boosted Pros come in! Ricer Newbie building up an engine w/ Q's

Ok, well the D16 that is in my EX is running fine, but I am currently building up a stronger one that will COMFORTABLY run enough boost for 200+ hp to swap in.

I've done a lot of research but it looks like most people would just rather swap then do what im trying to do so there are some holes in my knowledge of this engines limits.

I know that the rods are the big weak-spot, so those are first to go... im getting some that are safe to go to 9000RPM and 700hp... which is way more than enough, but i don't want to be close to the breaking point with this engine, I want to drive it to work, and be able to beat the **** out of it every once in a while (within reason) and not be afraid something bad is going to happen, like in my stocker.

I'm also getting dished pistons to help lower compression, and am also thinking of getting the cylinder walls honed out more when i bring the block down to the machine shop to get magna-flexed.

I hear the stock crank is plenty strong, and im not worried about doing head work... unless it has weak points im not aware of, but I would like anyone with experience to chime in and let me know if there is anything else i should do or buy that could be a potential weak point.

the rods/pistons will be fine, just have 'em pressed good and make sure they match ur cyl walls w/ the rings..

Uhh, just make sure it's a good tune...you can safely make 200whp on a stock D16 if it's tuned right (stock meaning w/ stock pistons)...

You'll be fine w/ that as a bottom end..

If you wanna be able to rev to 9000 ur gonna need to do head work, valves, retainers, springs, cams (whole valve train) and whatever else u can think of that goes in the head, I wouldn't expletive w/ the rev limit..

BTW: Youc an't just buy 9000 RPM limit rods and say you can rev your car up to 9000 RPM's, you'd float the valves, if you want more rev - ur gonna need major head work, jsut do the bottom end up w/ pistons/rods/bearings (forged), a good tune, keep ur stock 7200 RPM redline, and have ur 200whp, all for about 1200 bux, and have fun.

PS: GOOD TUNE is what you need, not stronger piston rods...

Stock can handle 200whp easily with a good tune. Mine's holding up against 213+ whp.

Oh, I know I couldn't actually run 9000rpms safely, i was just saying that the rods im getting are a LOT better then the stockers. I know that its more rpms then hp that usually F's the engine, but getting all the weak spots out is my goal. Ie: be ABLE to run 250hp, but only run 200-220.
