D15z1 smoking and losing oil - Do I just replace the piston rings?

Default D15z1 smoking and losing oil - Do I just replace the piston rings?

Im thinking about pulling out my D16Z6 & put my D15Z1 back in my 92 VX. When I took the motor out it was using/burning more oil then gas. My question here is since it just smoked would it be safe to re-ring and throw back in the car. VERY LIMITED BUDGET.

Have the bores measured for roundness/consistency at your local machine shop. They'll tell you if they are good to go or if you need to overbore them. Also, not sure if you knew this, but you'd need to hone the cylinder walls too.

This and you'll probably want to throw in some valve seals too.

And you may want to mill the head flat prior to installing a new head gasket.
