D15Z1 post swap running into trouble
CRX + D15Z1 ('92-95 Civic VX VTEC-E) stats
- P07 ECU (stock for this engine)
- Rywire OBD-0-1 conversion harness w/ resistor box delete and OBD-1 injectors (stock Z1)
- NO CELS
- stock exhaust, no muffler
- used stock 5-wire O2
- drained fuel tank, fresh 87 octane
- new fuel filter
- new NGK plug wires
- correct spark plugs
- cap, rotor, button look fine
- Cooling fan doesn't work since I deleted A/C but she doesn't overheat w/ the stock HF radiator
- DIY engine grounding kit
- Valve lash to spec
- Cam, crank, Ignition timing spot on
- New T-belt, tensioner, w-pump
***Problem UPDATE 3/22***
After 10 hours today, changed the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and spring (All Honda Genuine parts) and even set valve lash while I was there. Got the crank/cam/ignition timing spot on, but the problem still exists, altho the rev pickup is improved and it certainly revs fast and smooth. When in fast idle the car is possessed, it fluctuates slightly and randomly (but not the usual surge loop) etc but ultimately stays above 1.5-2k. After it warms up, the idle settles to 7-800 rpm and it purrs like a walrus (kitten + no muffler). What gives? Also, throttle input on both cold and warm idle causes random events such as rev hang, rough idle sputtering on RPM drop, and only when cold, increased engine RPM (beyond the throttle I gave it, hence possessed). Guess I'm not out of the woods yet on this Z1...could it be a MAP or TPS? EGR? Other acronyms? HELP! Mak
PS. If it it's solved by next Friday, I'll try to get a video of it in action.

Re: D15Z1 post swap running into trouble (MakDiesel)
i'm having same issue. HAD a jdm D15B in my 92 vx, but removed that and swapped a jdm D15B vtec-E (1.5L) version of the vx. starts high idle but then drops big to around that line below 1k. might be just warming up and oil not fully circulated perhaps? how u like the Rywire harness conversion?
curious cuz i must've got a pulled-2-quick harness from a wrecker; was missing the vtec solenoid connector on it grrrr- but i connected that by the shock tower connectors. Ur a step or 2 ahead of me. I wasn't able to get my crank pulley off so not replaced the Tbelt or water pump yet. My buddy set the timing...i think that threw it off cuz its very weak n idles worse, even stalls sometimes. crap i wasn't much help lol.
